Good to know

What falls outside warranty coverage.

Warranties cover equipment and installation — not everything that can happen to a roof or home. Understanding the boundaries helps you plan.

  • Pre-existing roof damage. If your roof was already compromised before installation, leaks from those areas are not covered. We inspect before we install and flag issues.
  • Acts of nature beyond equipment ratings. Panels are rated for hail up to 1 inch and wind up to 140+ mph. Damage from extreme events beyond those specs may require a homeowner's insurance claim.
  • Modifications by third parties. If another contractor alters the system, SunPol's workmanship warranty no longer applies to the modified components. Manufacturer warranties remain intact.
  • Normal cosmetic wear. Minor surface scratches, color fading on mounting hardware, or dirt buildup are not defects and don't affect performance.

FAQ

Warranty questions.

What is covered under the prepaid solar lease warranty?

Full service and maintenance for the entire 25-year lease term. Panels, inverters, wiring, and mounting are all covered at no additional cost. At lease end, you can buy at fair market value, renew for 5 years, or request free removal.

Who handles the warranty on a solar PPA?

The PPA provider owns the system and is responsible for all warranty claims, maintenance, and repairs for the duration of your agreement.

What happens if my solar panels underperform?

Tier 1 panel manufacturers guarantee at least 80–85% of rated output at year 25. If panels fall below that threshold, the manufacturer repairs or replaces them under warranty.

What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and workmanship warranty?

The manufacturer warranty covers the product itself — panel cells, inverter hardware. The workmanship warranty covers how SunPol installed it — wiring, connections, mounting, racking, and electrical work.

What warranty does SunPol offer on cash purchase installations?

Cash purchases include the manufacturer's 25-year panel warranty, 25-year micro inverter warranty, and SunPol's 10-year workmanship and roof penetration warranty.

Does SunPol's warranty cover roof leaks?

Yes. Our 10-year roof penetration warranty covers any leaks caused by the solar installation. If water comes through where we mounted the panels, we fix it at no cost.
